WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This is an immediate start, starting with Friday to Sunday nights which will be likely to increase to cover across a 7 night service.
About the child:
The child is a delightful twelve-year-old who has epilepsy, cerebral palsy and a heart condition. She has an established therapy team supporting her at school, with some input at home. She loves swimming, ballet and spending time with family and friends.
Responsibilities:
- To provide assistance with all of the childs care and observational requirements including personal care, continence care, dressing /undressing and night care needs.
- To administer medication as prescribed and to maintain associated medication records.
- To complete observations and records through the night.
- To prepare/supervise with meals and drinks as instructed by the employer
- To promote the childs well-being and happiness, choice and independence.
- To fully support all aspects of the childs ongoing rehabilitation as set out by our child’s treating therapists and professionals.
- To maintain a safe environment for the child; in the home and in all community-based activities where applicable.
- To follow the care plan and risk assessments as devised with our child’s MDT, employer and the Case Manager
- To support the employer with identifying any issues with prescribed equipment or therapies or new needs that you identify when you are working with the child, so that this can be actioned by the case manager and / or the employer
- To be responsible for domestic chores if required and if associated with our child’s overall care. This may include filing of medical paperwork, laundry, ironing and cleaning, and any additional tasks in the interests of providing a safe, clean and efficient environment.
- To report immediately to the employer, and the case manager any concerns regarding the child’s medical, physical or psychological health, and to record this appropriately.
- To use initiative when unforeseen events occur, and the family / case manager are not directly available to provide guidance.
- To be responsible to the employer and the case manager and ensure good communication, flexibility, and a consistent approach to care.
- To attend any child related meetings and training sessions as requested.
- To complete a report following each shift regarding our child’s care, support, presentation, needs and welfare.
- All written records are essential to meet regulatory compliance and will be used to evidence our child’s needs, progress and development.
- Please note ALL written communications relating to the child (named or implied) will from part of her case management file and can be requested at any time; it is essential to ensure any communications remain confidential, formal and professional. For example, this will apply to email, whats app, text messages, cloud-based recording and any handwritten notes.
- To liaise with the employer and the case manager regarding annual leave requests
- You must alert the employer and the case manager of sickness that will prevent you working, in order that alternative support or cover might be arranged.
- To report to the employer and the case manager about general progress, and of any incidents that are either unusual or which give raise for concern.
- To respect the privacy of the child and her family.
- All matters relating to our child’s situation and family are to be treated as confidential and are not to be disclosed to a third party under any circumstance.
- You need to be willing to be flexible and work to a rota.
- To adhere to CQC compliance in relation to delivery of care and support.
- To adhere to Covid-19 guidelines and risk assessment.
Pay rates starting from £18ph – PAYE.

WHAT WE REQUIRE
- At least 6 months UK experience within a similar setting
- Reference details covering the last 3 years
