The clinical training courses we offer include
Venepuncture
TPG ACADEMY
This is the process of withdrawing blood from a vein, sometimes referred to a blood draw or phlebotomy. The process of venepuncture can take place by a trained nurse or phlebotomist. Methods of blood collection include arterial sampling, venepuncture sampling and fingerstick sampling. As part of our venepuncture training course, we aim to provide our carers and support workers with training on how to take blood from clients, as required. Clinical training on venepuncture aims to improve knowledge of venepuncture, including understanding the anatomy of the veins, how to find a suitable site, and we also allow the students to practice venepuncture on a synthetic arm. A carer with clinical training on venepuncture can expect to learn to identify suitable veins, as well as identifying indications and contraindications. Understand the equipment to be used to perform venepuncture, and to practice in a controlled environment. They will also gain an understand of how the patient feels during venepuncture, and how to put them at ease. We provide this clinical training for carers at Harmony Healthcare, so they are able to use their skills when required to help support our clients. With the support of registered nurses, our carers gain useful skills in venepuncture to enable them to carry this out safely and securely, while keeping the needs of the clients and the forefront of their mind at all times.

TPG ACADEMY
Knowledge of basic life support helps to keep our clients safe, and gives them peace of mind that no matter what happens, they are in safe hands. This is why we provide basic life support training to our carers, so they can deal with all types of situations that may arise. The basic life support – or BLS as it is often known, is focused on ensuring airways are maintained and helping to support breathing and circulation. Our BLS training consists of: undertaking the initial assessment, so as to determine what the client requires, airway maintenance and mouth-to-mouth ventilation, as well as chest compression. These actions can help to save lives, and they also make our carers feel more confident about dealing with difficult situations, especially for clients with complex conditions.
End of Life Care
TPG ACADEMY
End of life and palliative care are integral components of the care we offer to our clients. Therefore, it is crucial for our caregivers to possess a thorough understanding of end of life care and how to effectively handle it.
